Everyone wants speedy and accurate service right?  Well, technology has come a long way and many companies not only have user-friendly websites, but more and more companies also have mobile apps so customers can self-service their accounts.  By stepping into this world of technology, customers typically receive more perks than they were even expecting.

A big benefit of self-servicing your accounts is convenience. First, there’s no ‘hold time’ as there could be if calling a company.  Your information is at your fingertips 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Making payments electronically will eliminate the hassle and cost of check writing, filing paper, or buying stamps, and many companies offer credits to their customers if they enroll in their electronic options. Many insurance websites offer options to report claims, print auto ID cards, and request policy changes, speeding up the processing of this information.

Then there’s the peace of mind. Receive statements nearly instantaneously, with no worries about lost or stolen mail. Bills and policies are stored electronically on a secure website. Paying bills electronically also helps keep your identity from being compromised and helps you avoid late or missed payments.

Many websites and mobile apps also offer helpful information in the form of free articles or tips on how to save money, how to protect your home, how to keep private information private, and more.

And then there’s the environmental perks. No paper means less waste to recycle. For example, just by switching to electronic billing, statements, and payments for one year, the average American household would avoid releasing 63 gallons of wastewater into the environment!

If you are considering the idea of using self-service options for your own accounts but have questions or simply want to make sure you are receiving all the benefits of choosing this method, contact the company.  They are often more than happy to explain the perks of their website or mobile apps!  If you already self-service your accounts using online or mobile options, what are your favorite benefits?
