Have you ever watched Extreme Couponing?

If you’re not familiar, Extreme Couponing is the name of a hit reality TV show based on “super couponers:” people who go to great lengths to save money on necessary household items by clipping coupons.  The show debuted as a special in late 2010 on the TLC cable network and was so successful, the network immediately ordered a season’s worth of shows which began last spring.

On one episode, a woman was able to purchase more than $600 in items at the grocery store for only $2.64—all through her expert extreme couponing.

The success of the series doesn’t come as a surprise to me.  With the cost of nearly everything constantly on the increase, people are looking for new and creative ways to save money on just about everything.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to clip coupons for auto insurance?

For many households, auto insurance premiums represent a fairly-significant annual expense.  And quite honestly, it’s not getting any cheaper either!  As the price of everything increases—cars, parts, repairs and medical expenses—the costs to insure your 4,000-pound steel conveyance continue to spike.  And while it’s true you can’t clip coupons to save money on auto insurance, there are some things you can do to save money on your premiums.

  • Do business with an independent insurance agent. Your local independent agent works for you, not a company.  Because they represent multiple companies, independent agents are the only insurance professionals who provide the value of an auto insurance quote and proposal based on the price and coverage needs that best fit your unique situation.
  • Bundle your insurance.  Insurance companies typically offer package discounts when you insure your autos with the same company as your homeowners insurance.
  • Talk to your independent agent about discounts you qualify for.  Discounts for safe drivers, good students, accident prevention courses, and loyalty credits are just a few of the ways you can save money on your auto insurance.

How has your independent agent helped you save money? Are any of you extreme couponers? I’d love to hear from you!

  4. Health insurance is important to everyone because you never know when an emergency or illness will show up. It is very expensive nowadays to get sick and not everyone can afford to pay the high cost of doctors’ fees. The skyrocketing price of hospitalization, diagnostic procedures, medications, and follow up visits make it even more difficult. This is the reason it is beneficial to consider the different health insurance quotes offered by all the companies out there.-

    1. Haydee – while Central does not offer health insurance, these are good points to consider.
