- The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee spread heavy rain and flooding into many areas of the Southeast and Tennessee Valley on Labor Day.
- In drought-stricken Texas, wildfires which have been ongoing since the spring erupted over Labor Day weekend, destroying over 1,000 homes. Since the wildfires began, over 3.5 million acres of Texas have burned—an area equivalent to seven Texas counties!
