Wow, it’s hard to believe that 2011 is almost over! It’s been a wild ride this year, with the many ups and downs with our economy and unusual weather across our country……. so much of this is out of our control! It just seems like none of us can ever get a break!

Why I Volunteer

Volunteering for a cause or organization that you believe in can be one of the most rewarding and fun things in life. My first volunteer “opportunity” came when an organization approached my boss looking for help. It wasn’t going to work for her to help so she asked me if I would be willing to give up a few lunch hours and join the group. I have trouble saying no, plus it sounded interesting so I agreed. The group was planning a brand new annual event involving many worthwhile organizations in the community. While I was only a small part of the event’s success, I’m proud to say that the event marked it’s 13th anniversary earlier this month.

InVESTing in the Future

Let’s face it….most students don’t dream of a career in the insurance industry. I didn’t. I studied Journalism. I wanted to be an anchorwoman for a major network. Now that’s exciting! Well, life had other ideas for me and today I find myself working for an insurance company. And quite the opposite of what you might think, it’s interesting, fulfilling and yes, even fun!
