Early spring is usually the kick-off to hail season. As you are likely aware, hail can do significant damage to anything it comes in contact with depending on the size of the hail. Hail is a solid form of precipitation made up of balls or irregular lumps of ice referred to as hailstones. Hail normally develops and falls during periods of severe thunderstorms. The size of hail varies from pea size on up, with the largest recorded hailstone in the United States measuring 1.67 pounds with a circumference of 17.5 inches. Now that could do some damage!

As a claims adjuster, I wear a lot of different hats on a daily basis. On one hand, I am always trying to provide the best customer service, but I am also focused on the steps of adjusting a property claim or investigating an automobile accident. One of the best things about being a claims adjuster is that your job is never boring. Each claim has different circumstances, which provide separate challenges.

I remember when I was a kid out trick-or-treating. There was always this house set up kind of like a haunted house. Usually someone was jumping out from behind a corner or popping out of a box, trying to get you to scream like a little school girl. That is part of the fun of Halloween. However, I’m in insurance, more specifically claims, so it also gets me thinking about the things that could go wrong on Halloween and result in a premises liability claim.

An automobile accident is a scary and stressful situation regardless if it’s your fault or not. I talk to a lot of people after they’ve been in an accident and they are so shaken up that they have difficulty giving me the details of how the accident happened. I can’t blame them. I have never been in a car accident (knock on wood), but I do consider myself somewhat of a professional when it comes to what needs to be done following an accident.
